Sgt. Armstrong was the Flight Engineer aboard Short Stirling I W7535 HA-C of 218 (Gold Coast) Squadron, which was lost on a mission to Gennevilliers. The Stirling crashed in the north-western suburbs of Paris at Colombes, with the loss of all eight crew members.
