On the Arras Memorial is the name of 122498 Private William Marsden Benson, serving with the Machine Gun Corps (Infantry) who died 22/03/1918.

Newcastle Daily Chronicle 17/01/1920 reports a Recognition Dinner for returned members of the United Kingdom Commercial Travellers Association in Victoria Hall, Sunderland, at which Mr. Benson was mentioned as one of three members who had been killed.
