Adamson, L., Dvr., 1917
In St. Nicholas British Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of L/11485 Driver Lancelot Adamson, serving with "C" Battery 190 Brigade Royal Field Artillery who died 24/04/1917.

Morris Adamson has submitted the following:-

Lancelot was the son of Lancelot and Sarah Adamson. He was born in 1886 at Monkwearmouth. In 1901 Lancelot was a Hotel Page Boy living with his parents at Long Row Southwick. In 1906 he married Margaret Dugdale. In 1911 Lancelot and Margaret (known as Daisy) were living at 68 Northumberland Street Crowtree Road with their two sons John William (Will) and Lancelot (Lance) (one child had died). Lancelot was then a Billiard Marker.

Lancelot enlisted at Sunderland into the Royal Field Artillery and died of wounds 20/04/1917.

Sunderland Echo 14/05/1917 has two Roll of Honour entries one from Daisy and their two sons and the other from his brother Jack (in France) and his wife Sarah. 15/05/1917 carries further entries from his father, sister and husband Jennie and Fred, also from his sister Nance and husband Jim, his old friends Mrs Usher and Driver Jack Usher (now in France) and a repetition of Daisy and their sons.

He is remembered at Monkwearmouth on M46.19 and at Sunderland in S140.048 part 07
