"Mr. and Mrs. G.H. King, of Fenton Terrace, New Herrington, have received notification from their younger son, Corporal James Ernest King, R.A.S.C., formerly reported missing, that he is a prisoner of war. Mr. and Mrs. King had not heard from him since May 10th. Corporal King was, prior to being called up, a motor driver for a Sunderland firm. He was drafted to France last February. Corporal King was a Sunday School worker at New Herrington Independent Methodist Church."
