At Lievin Communal Cemetery Extension, is the name of Edwin Matthews Pettler, serving with the 46th Battalion Canadian Infantry who died 12/04/1917.

Born in Belsay, on January 7th 1892, his father was the Rev. C. Pettler who was residing at The Manse, Middleton-on-Teesdale, Yorkshire, [sic]. Edwin emigrated at some time to Canada and was employed as a teamster.

He was living at Sasketoon, and he enlisted on the 6th November 1915. His service number was 472572 and he was in the 46th Battalion Canadian Infantry (Saskatchewan Regiment).

He died on the 12th April 1917.
