“M.S.M. Award.
Ex-Corpl. Fred. Prudhoe, late Royal Fusiliers, of Evenwood, clerk in the Bishop Auckland District Education Office, has been awarded the Meritorious Service medal for devotion to duty in the field. During the three years’ service in France he served as a Battalion runner, and was then transferred to the Battalion Orderly Room. When the reorganisation of the British Armies took place in February, 1918, Corpl. Prudhoe was transferred to the Brigade Headquarters as chief and confidential clerk to the Brigade Staff.”
