On Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium, is the name of Captain Edward John McNeill Penrose serving with 1st Battalion Royal Irish Fusiliers who died 25/04/1915.

Mentioned in Despatches

Son of the Rev. John T. and Annie C. L. Penrose, of "Tullaghquin," Church Road Wimbledon, London.

In Barnard Castle (St. Mary) Church Cemetery is a family headstone which reads:-

Sacred to the memory of
Mary Esme Violet, only daughter of John T. Penrose
(Vicar of this Parish 1895-1906) and Annie his wife
who entered into the light of the Feast of Epiphany
January 6th 1901 aged 14 years

Also of
Edward John McNeil, Capt., 87th R. Irish Fus.
only son of the above, who fell in the Great War
at the 2nd Battle of Ypres, April 25th 1915 aged 26 years
