S.S. Fulham was sunk in 1940.

William Kirby and Brenda McMahon have submitted the following:-

Michael was born August 19th 1897 at Stockton on Tees. He was the son of Michael and Jane Ann Confrey. When he joined the Navy in 1916 he was listed as being a factory lad. It was noted he was 5’3” tall with red hair, blue eyes and a fair complexion. His character and ability is noted as very good.

Michael seemed to make the Navy a lifelong career. He served on many ships during his service but finally was on the crew of S.S. Fulham (London) with the Merchant Navy.

He married Elizabeth Teah in 1924.

Michael died at the County Hospital Durham March 3rd 1947.

Michael Confrey is not remembered on a local War memorial he is remembered on our List of Ships’ crews
