On Plymouth Naval Memorial is the name of D/KX 597832 Stoker 2nd Class Thomas Lowes, serving with the Royal Navy who died 15/06/1944.

The Durham Chronicle 22/06/1951 contains a Roll of Honour which includes:

LOWES (Edmondsley). Treasured memories of our dear son, Thomas, died at sea 14th June 1944. Mam, Dad, sisters Jean and Margaret.

H.M.S. Mourne was sunk by an accoustic torpedo from U-boat 767 on 15/6/1944.

Thomas Lowes is remembered on our List of Ships’ crews
