Sgt. Eric Taylor was serving with 9 Squadron. He was a crew member of Lancaster I W4133 WS-Z which took off on a night cross-country exercise. It crashed and burst into flames in the Bardney airfield circuit. None of the crew survived.

Eric Taylor was born 12th May 1911. He married Janet B.W. McLaurin in 1938. In September 1939 they were living at 1a Alexander Street, Pelton and Eric was a bricklayer. Their daughter Nola was born in 1940. Nola married Ian Burn in 1961 and emigrated to Canada.

Eric Taylor is possibly remembered at West Pelton in W112.03 although the year given is 1944.
