Lynch, J.G., Sgt., 1945
In Venray War Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of 650438 Sergeant John George Lynch, serving with the Royal Air Force who died 25/02/1945.

Sgt. Lynch was serving with 462 Sqdn. He was the rear-gunner crew member of Halifax III MZ448 Z5- which took off from Foulsham on a diversionary sweep over Northern France. It was hit by flak. Four died and 4 were taken prisoner.

Halifax MZ448 Z5-? had departed Foulsham at 1701 for Ops Bomber Support.

There are three potential claims for this loss;
It was probably intercepted over Duiburg by a Night-Fighter captained by Nacht Jagd “Experten” Hptm Josef Kraft (XII/NJG1) and shot down at 2015 for his 49th Abschuss
Or
It was probably intercepted and shot down by a Night-Fighter captained by Maj Max Eckhoff (Stab II/NJG2) and shot down for his 7th Abschuss
Or
It was possibly intercepted by a Night-Fighter captained by Oblt Heinz Reuter (XII/NJG3) and shot down for his 11th Abschuss
