In Birtley New Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave with a private headstone of 5342885 Trooper Eric William Henry Harverson, serving with the Reconnaissance Corps, Royal Armoured Corps, who died 26/02/1944.

The headstone reads:-

Treasured memories
of my dear husband
Eric W.H. Harverson
who died 26th February 1944
aged 27 years

Eric Harverson is not remembered on any local memorials.
