From what little there is I think I can identify him as Sydney Robert Milburn Turnbull, MBE. He was born on 24th August 1903 in Gateshead. He was discharged from the Merchant Navy in 1945/46 and died in early 1946. His death was registered in Newcastle but place listed as Durham. Someone has informed me that many merchant seamen who died after discharge, even as a result of war service, were missed off the CWGC register. I can only assume he was perhaps a resident of Birtley district when he died.
