On the Runnymede Memorial is the name of 1205572 Sergeant James Edward Bond, serving with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve who died 05/02/1942.

Sgt. Bond was killed when Lockheed Hudson V AM687 of 1 (Coastal) Operational Training Unit was lost on a training flight north of the Mull of Galloway, with the loss of all four crew members.

He is remembered in Birtley on B127.01
