“An Old St.Alban’s Boy.
The current number of the St.Alban’s Parish Magazine contains the following paragraph:
John E. Pattison, who is now serving on board H.M.S. Swift, has been awarded the bronze medal of the Humane Society for saving life at sea. When H.M.S. Hawke was sunk by a German submarine, one of the marines on board clung to a frail raft for twenty-four hours and dropped off from exhaustion just as the Swift came alongside. Pattison at once dived in and saved him from drowning. We are all proud of him”.
He is named amongst those who served on W95.02
