Bell, W., Pte., 1916
In Gordon Dump Cemetery, Ovillers-la-Boiselle is the Commonwealth War Grave of 6264 Private William Bell, serving with the Northumberland Fusiliers who died 07/07/1916.

Ron Carson has provided the following:

William was born in about 1880. He married Esther Jane (nee Attwood) at Gateshead, Co. Durham on 25th July 1904. They had three children: William, born 12 April 1905; Isabella King, born 3 July 1906 and Stephen, born 5 June 1913. The family lived at 64 Back Street, Winlaton, Co. Durham.

William enlisted with ‘C’ Company, 11th Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers and was initially reported missing, then killed in action on 7 July 1916, aged 36.

William Bell is remembered in Winlaton on W85.01
