In Morogoro Cemetery, Tanzania, is the Commonwealth war Grave of Lieutenant Thomas Anderson serving with the 3rd South Africa Horse who died 08/09/1916.

Son of Thomas Anderson, of Frizington, Cumberland, and the late Elizabeth Anderson.

In Ryton Cemetery is a family headstone which reads:-

In loving memory of
Thomas
beloved husband of
Elizabeth Anderson
who died Sept. 19th 1912
aged 65 years
Also John Alexander
eldest son of the above
who died at Randfontein South Africa
Sept. 17th 1911 aged 34 years
Also of Thomas Lieut. 3rd S.A. Horse
who was killed in action in East Africa
on Sept. 8th 1916 aged 29 years
also the above
Elizabeth Anderson
who died at Blyth Dec. 21st 1925
aged 66 years
and was interred here
