On the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France, is the name of 43265 Private Alfred William Wood, serving with the 10th Battalion West Yorkshire Regiment (Prince of Wales’s Own), who died 30/10/1916.

Morpeth Herald 29/12/1916 carries a brief obituary:

Private Alfred William Wood, West Yorks, has died of wounds received in action. He was [the] eldest son of the late William Wood, Lisburn Villa, and grandson of the late Wm. Taylor, East Parade, Alnwick.

Alfred William Wood is remembered at Alnwick on A11.03 and at Gateshead in G39.004 page 40
