Joseph, born 1892 at Springwell was the son of Andrew and Isabella Gibson. In 1911 he was living with his parents and sister Margery at Wrekenton. Joseph was a miner at a local coal mine.

Joseph died at the Military Hospital Caterham. His widow Agnes received his effects.

Joseph Gibson is remembered at Gateshead Fell on G39.064
