On the Thiepval Memorial is the name of 12148 Lance Corporal Sidney Tron Goldthorp, serving with the Northumberland Fusiliers who died 07/07/1916.

In Gateshead (Saltwell) Cemetery is a family headstone which reads:

In
affectionate remembrance of
Walter
the dearly loved husband of
Sarah Jane Goldthorp
who passed to a higher life
10th December 1930, aged 67 years.
also Sidney Tron, L/Cpl, 9th N.F.
youngest son of the above
reported missing on the Somme
7th July 1916 Aged 22 years
Also Alma Agnes
the devoted wife of
George Neville Johnston
and only beloved daughter of the above
Walter and Sarah Jane Goldthorp,
who passed to the higher life on
6th January 1932, aged 29 years.
"To live in hearts we leave behind
is not to die.
Also Sarah Jane
dearly loved wife of the above Walter
who passed to the higher life on
23rd March 1946, aged 83 years.
"At rest".

"Until the day break, and the shadows
flee away.

Sidney Tron Goldthorp is remembered in Gateshead on G39.004 where his name is given as Goldthorpe and in Battalion History page 130.
