In Perth Cemetery (China Wall) is the Commonwealth War Grave of 16609 Private Hugh Dunn, serving with the Durham Light Infantry who died 26/06/1915.

In Gateshead East Cemetery is a family headstone which reads:

In loving memory of
James Carr
the beloved husband of
Elizabeth Dunn
who died March 30th 1902
aged 45 years.
Also of their beloved son
Pte. Hugh Dunn, 10th D.L.I.
who was killed in action in France
June 25th 1915, in his 27th year
Deeply mourned
also of their youngest son
Pte. Simon Dunn 6th D.L.I.
who died of wounds in France
March 23rd 1918 aged 21 years.
Also the above
Elizabeth Dunn
who died April 12th 1930
aged 73 years
also Janet
daughter of the above
and dear wife of
Sydney Turnbull
died 19th June 1961
aged 68 years.
"Peace perfect peace".

CWGC gives his date of death as June 26th.
