Brenda McMahon has submitted the following:-

Henry was the son of William , a check weighman, and Mary (nee Glyn) Curran. He was born at Sacriston in 1881 where the family lived before moving to Gateshead.

Henry joined the Coldstream Guards as Private 3323 and served in South Africa. In the 1901 census he was at North Camp, Farnborough which was part of Aldershot camp.

In 1904 he married Margaret Ann Noble. By 1911 he had left the army and was working with his father and older brother, James as a coal miner hewer. Henry and his own family (now including son Frank born 15th February 1905 and daughter, Mary born 18th April 1908 ) were living with his parents at 779 Walker Road Newcastle. A second daughter Alice was born July 29th 1911.

When war broke out Henry rejoined the services serving with again with the Coldstream Guards. He died of wounds received in France aged 33 years.

His wife, now living at 344 Back Askew Road added the following words to his headstone :- Ever remembered By wife and family.
