Heslop’s Local Advertiser 17/11/1916 carries the following:

“Mrs. J. Wright, 5 South View Terrace, has received official information that her husband, Bombardier Wright, R.G.A., has been wounded and is now in Birmingham Hospital, suffering from severe shrapnel wounds. Bomb. Wright was a workman at Heworth Colliery previous to the war, and had been at the Front two years and two months.”
