Henderson, T.C., Sgt., 1943

In Reichswald Forest War Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of 2201250 Sergeant Thomas Cook Henderson, serving with the Royal Air Force who died 29/12/1943.

Sgt. Henderson was serving with 103 Squadron. He was a crew member of Lancaster III JB487 PM-G which took off from Elsham Wolds on a mission to Berlin. It was hit by flak and crashed. Sgt. Henderson was the only crew member killed, the other six were made prisoners of war.

Heslop’s Local Advertiser 18/01/1947 carries an In Memoriam notice which reads:

“Henderson – 7 Thorneygarth, Felling, Thomas Cook, Sgt. Air Gunner, R.A.F.V.R., killed on active service on Dec. 29th-30th, 1945.
