In Reichswald Forest War Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of 7892405 Trooper John George Gascoigne, serving with the Royal Armoured Corps who died 26/03/1945.

Heslop’s Local Advertiser 19/04/1947 carries an In Memoriam notice which reads:

“Gascoigne – (Felling), Tpr. Jack Gascoigne, R.T.R., killed 26th March, 1945, in W.E.”

The edition of 17/04/1948 reads: “Gascoigne – 2 Felling House Gardens, Tpr. Jack, R.T.R. killed Mar. 26, 1945, Germany.”

He is remembered in Felling on F32.10 where his name is mis-spelled as “Gasgoine”.
