On the Alamein Memorial is the name of 4270111 Lance Serjeant Joseph Henry Flynn, serving with the Royal Northumberland Fusiliers who died 30/10/1942.

Heslop’s Local Advertiser 19/10/1946 carries an In Memoriam notice which reads:

“Flynn – (Felling). Jimmy, K.O.S.B., died of wounds, Arnhem, Sept.18th 1944. Also Joe (RNF) killed in action El Alamein Oct. 30th 1942.”
