"Among the prisoners of war recently repatriated was Lance-Corpl. J.W. Brewis, son of Mr. George Brewis, of Bolam terrace. L/Cpl. Brewis joined the Inniskillings, and was severely wounded in France. After a short stay in Germany he was transferred to Switzerland, where he was operated upon by Professor Kocher, to whose skill he undoubtedly owes his life."
