Pegg, G., Pte., 1918
In Daours Communal Cemetery Extension is the Commonwealth War Grave of 79543 Private George Pegg, serving with the Royal Fusiliers who died 30/08/1918.

John Taylor and Ann Norman have submitted the following:

George Pegg was born in about 1898, the son of Samuel and Elizabeth Pegg, with seven brothers and sisters, recorded on the 1911 census, at which time he was still at school. His father was employed as a coal hewer and the family lived at 9, Ship Lane, Wrekenton.

George served as a Private with 3rd Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers, regimental number 51874. He later transferred to 9th Battalion, Royal Fusiliers (City of London Regiment), regimental number 79543. He died on the Western Front on 30th August 1918. He is buried in the Daours Communal Cemetery in France.

His brothers Charles and Robert also died in WW1.

He is remembered in Eighton Banks on E50.01 and E50.02
