Rutter, R., Pte., 1915
In Perth Cemetery (China Wall) is the Commonwealth War Grave of 2729 Private Richard Rutter, serving with the Durham Light Infantry who died 26/04/1915.

John Taylor and Ann Norman have submitted the following:

Richard Rutter was born in Windy Nook in about 1885, the eldest of eight children of John George and Charlotte Rutter. In 1911 they lived at 167 High Street, Wrekenton. Both Richard and his father worked above ground at a coal mine.

He served as a Private with 1st/8th Battalion, Durham Light Infantry, regimental number 2729. He was killed in action on the Western Front on 26th April 1915. He is also remembered with a photograph on the Gateshead War Honours Scrapbook, although the caption on the cutting reads merely “missing”.

He is remembered in Eighton Banks on E50.01 and E50.02
