Thomas McGuire was born in about 1876 in Newcastle, the son of Thomas and Elizabeth McGuire. The family moved to Eighton Banks where he spent much of his childhood. He became a coal miner like his father and older brothers.
He served as a Private with 2nd Battalion, Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers, regimental number 20929. He was killed in action on the Western Front on 28th February 1917. He is also remembered on Ireland’s Memorial Records 1914-1918.
