Joicey, J., Pte., 1917
On Cambrai Memorial, Louverval is the name of 260114 Private John Joicey, serving with the Loyal North Lancashire Regiment who died 30/11/1917.

John Taylor and Ann Norman have submitted the following:

John Joicey was born in Heworth in about 1895, the son of James and Jane Ann Joicey and had a brother, William, who was a year younger. In the 1911 census his father's occupation is described as a “stone miner in a coal mine”, while he and William were both horse drivers, below ground in a coal mine. The family were living at 4 Hawthorn Terrace, Eighton Banks.

He enlisted in 1915 and served as a Private in the East Yorkshire Regiment, regimental number, 29244. He then transferred to the 1st/5th Battalion, Loyal North Lancashire Regiment, regimental number 260114. He was killed in action on 30th November 1917.

He is remembered in Eighton Banks on E50.01 and E50.02
