Jennings, J.E., Pte., 1916
In Becourt Military Cemetery, Becordel-Becourt is the Commonwealth War Grave of 26/360 Private John Edwin Jennings, serving with the Northumberland Fusiliers who died 11/05/1916.

John Edwin Jennings was born in Felling, in about 1884, the son of Robert and Catherine Jennings. His father was employed as a coal miner and he had two elder brothers. In 1891 the family were living at Wrekenton Row. His eldest brother, James was also now working as a miner. In 1901 John was employed as a coal putter and boarding with the Parks family also in Wrekenton Row. In 1911 he was employed as a cartman and lived at 98 St. Cuthbert's Road, Gateshead with his wife, Agnes, and their five year old son, Thomas.

He served as a Private with 26th Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers (Tyneside Irish), regimental number 26/360. He was killed in action on the Western Front on 11th May 1916. He is also remembered in Ireland’s Memorial Records 1914-1918.

He is remembered in Eighton Banks on E50.01 and E50.02
