Coleman, N., Pte., 1915
On Portsmouth Naval Memorial is the name of PO/655(S) Private Norman Coleman, serving with the Royal Marine Light Infantry who died 05/05/1915.

John Taylor and Ann Norman have submitted the following:

Norman Coleman was born 15th February 1895, the son of John and Jane Coleman of 48 Wrekenton Row. On the 1911 census he was employed as a coal miner as was his father. The family were living at 10 Ship Lane, Wrekenton.

He served as a Private with the Royal Marines “Portsmouth Battalion”, number PO/655 (S). He died at Gallipoli on 5th May 1915, of wounds received in action, and was buried at sea.

He is remembered in Eighton Banks on E50.01 and E50.02
