EIGHTON BANKS

Blacklock, H., Pte., 1918
In Serre Road Cemetery No.2 is the Commonwealth War Grave of 40365 Private Henry Blacklock, serving with the Durham Light Infantry who died 25/03/1918.

The following has been submitted by John Taylor:

Henry was born in Birtley in about 1880 and was a butcher when he grew up. He married Elizabeth Ann Million, known as Lizzie.

He served as a Private with 19th Battalion, Durham Light Infantry as a private at the age of 35 on a short service attestation. His regimental number was 40365. He was killed in action on the Western Front, on 25th March 1918. He is buried in the Serre Road Cemetery No.2 in the Somme region of France.
