iN Epehy Wood Farm Cemetery, Epehy is the Commonwealth War Grave of 79588 Private John Connelly, serving with the Royal Fusiliers who died 19/09/1918.

John Taylor and Ann Norman have submitted the following:

John was born in 1894, the son of Mark and Margaret Connelly. He lived with his wife, Mary Isabella Connelly, at 1 Quarryfield Road, Gateshead.

John enlisted as a Private with 3rd Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers, regimental number 51875, and it is with this Regiment he is remembered on the memorial. However, he later transferred to 9th Battalion, London Regiment, regimental number 79588. He died of his wounds on the Western Front on 19th September 1918. He is buried in plot: II. D. 17, at Epehy Wood Farm Cemetery, Epehy, Departement de la Somme, Picardie, France.
