Son of Robert and Elizabeth Turner, of Dunston, Gateshead.

Sgt Turner was a crew member of Wellington IC W5616 DX- which crashed on an air test for a single engine approach. It undershot as it was approaching Nethwold airfield, Norfolk, hit a tree and went up in flames. Five other crew members survived, but Sgt Turner, rear gunner, died.
