Sgt. Skelton was killed when Avro Lancaster III ED482 of 50 Squadron was lost on a mission to lay mines in the 'Deodar' area, around the Gironde Estuary. The Lancaster was lost without trace, along with all seven of the crew members.

MISSING
Sergt. A. G. Cecil M. Skelton, R.A.F., son of Mrs. Gladys Skelton (nee Graham), of 52, Bensham Avenue, Gateshead, is reported missing on active service.
