John Robert Smith of the 24th (Tyneside Irish) Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers. John Robert died on the 3rd January 1919 at 185, Saltwell Road, Gateshead, aged 47 years (Ex P. Sgt.). He was buried at Blaydon with Military Honours, his fellow workmen and members of Druids, Shamrock Lodge were invited to attend. Husband of Rosetta Smith, late of Swalwell.
