Sgt. Kidd was the pilot of Handley Page Halifax II HR738 NP-Z ‘Zombie’s Zephyr’ of 158 Squadron, which was lost on a mission to Berlin. The Halifax was shot down by a Luftwaffe night-fighter, and crashed near Paderborn with the loss of five of the seven crew members.
