On the Tyne Cot memorial is the name of 202355 Private Robert William Patterson, serving with the Lincolnshire Regiment who died 26/09/1917.

The Auckland Chronicle 29/09/1921 carries the following:

In Memoriam – Roll of Honour.

Patterson. In sweet remembrance of our dear son Private Robert William Patterson, South View, Rookhope, who was killed in action in France, 26 Sept. 1917. Lovingly remembered by father and mother, sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews.
Christ shall link the broken chain
Closer when we meet again.”

He is remembered in Rookhope on R51.01, R51.02 and R51.03
