John Chapman was the son of Robert and Sarah Harrison and was born at High Etherley in 1895. In 1911 Robert now a widower and his family are at High Etherley. John is a joiner aged 15 years.
John enlisted at Bishop Auckland joined the Durham Light Infantry (3529) and was late transferred to the Northumberland Fusiliers. He went to France and was killed in action 04/01/1918.
John Chapman Harrison is remembered at High Etherley on H127.01 and H127.02
