Arthur was the son of Francis (Frank) and Mary Jane Hardy born at Etherley in 1880. In 1911 Francis now remarried and his family are at Mill Houses Toft Hill. Arthur is a Coal Miner (Putter).
Arthur enlisted at Bishop Auckland, went to France 09/09/1915 and was killed in action 04/10/1917.
Arthur Hardy is remembered at High Etherley on H127.01 and H127.02
