In Fricourt British Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of 19771 Private Fred Gaskin serving with the 7th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment who died 01/07/1916.

Dorothy Hall has submitted the following:-

Fred was the son of John Aaron and Isabella Gaskin and was born in 1895 at Etherley. In 1911 the family are living at Toft Hill and Fred aged 17 is a labourer.

Fred enlisted at Darlington, went to France 12/08/1915 and was killed in action 01/07/1916.

Fred Gaskin is remembered at High Etherley on H127.01 and H127.02
