George was the son of George and Julia Hobson and was born 1894 at Woodside. In 1911 the family were at Cement Row Woodside and George was a 17 year old Pit Lad.
George enlisted at Bishop Auckland in 1914, went to France 11/09/1915 and died of wounds 23/04/1917. At this time his father George was the landlord of the Pot and Glass Inn Etherley.
George Hobson is remembered at High Etherley on H127.01 and H127.02
