Moses, W.A., Pte., 1918
In Hawthorn Ridge Cemetery No. 1 Auchonvillers is the Commonwealth War Grave of 220168 Private William Alderson Moses serving with the 7th Battalion East Yorkshire Regiment who died 08/06/1918.

Ron Shotton has submitted the following:-

William Alderson was the son of Robert and Elizabeth Moses born in 1898 at Bishop Auckland. In 1911 the family are at Wind Mills Morley and William was still at school.

William enlisted at Bishop Auckland in the Yorkshire Regiment (204893) and was later transferred to the East Yorkshire Regiment. He went to France and was killed in action 08/06/1918.

William Alderson Moses is remembered at High Etherley on H127.01 and H127.02
