In Terlincthun British Cemetery, Wimille is the Commonwealth War Grave of M/318477 Private Joseph Allinson Hodgson serving with the Army Service Corps who died 19/11/1918.

Ron Shotton has submitted the following:-

Joseph Allinson was the son of Bryan and Phoebe Hodgson and was born in 1886 at Etherley. In 1911 Joseph was a Blacksmith living at home with his parents at Etherley.

Joseph married Edith Mary Henderson 10/06/1916.

Joseph enlisted and went to France 27/06/1917 and died of influenza contracted on Active Service in 83rd General Hospital at Boulogne.

In Etherley St. Cuthbert churchyard is a family headstone for Hodgson which reads:-

died 30th January 1932
aged 78 years
also of the above
Bryan Hodgson
died 18th November 1936
aged 83 years
also of their son
Joseph Allinson
who died in France
19th November 1918
aged 32 years
