Tazey, F., Pte., 1916
On the Thipval memorial to the Missing of the Somme is the name of 45641 Private Fred Tazley serving with the 15th Battalion of the Durham Light Infantry who died 16/09/1916.

Ron Shotton has submitted the following:-

Fred Tazey was the son of George and Ann Tazey and was born in 1898 at Annfield Plain. In 1911 the family are at Greenside and Fred is still at school.

By February 1915 Fred is living at Low Etherley and he enlisted at Bishop Auckland, given the service number 3453 which was later changed to 45641, went to France 15/06/1916 and was killed in action on 16/09/1916.

Fred is remembered at High Etherley on H127.01 and H127.02 and at Witton Park on W125.02 and W125.04
