Leicester Regiment
17th September 1916 age 30

Robert was the youngest son of George and Hannah Mothershaw born 17th March 1886 at Willenhall Staffordshire. In 1911 George, a widower was a curry comb maker and Robert a polisher were still living at Willenhall.

Robert enlisted at Lichfield in August 1914. He went to France 29th July 1915. On July 14th 1916 he received a gun shot wound to the neck and was sent back to England. He died 18th September 1916 probably at the 17th Durham V.A. hospital at The Red House Etherley the home of coal owner Henry Francis Stobart and run by his wife Jessica.

Robert Mothershaw is not remembered on a local war memorial.
