F/Sgt. Alderson was killed when Handley Page Halifax II JB841 EQ-K of 408 (R.C.A.F.) Squadron was lost on a mission to Dortmund. F/Sgt Alderson’s Service Records show that he was born on May 18th 1914 in Bishop Auckland, and emigrated to Canada in 1930 under the auspices of Dr. Barnardo’s Homes. He had been at Watt's Naval School for three years before moving to Canada.
