On the Runnymede Memorial is the name of 171697 Pilot Officer Kenneth George Marris, serving with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve who died 09/05/1944.

Pilot Officer Marris was serving with 426 Sqdn. He was a crew member of Halifax III MZ598 0W-J which left Linton-on-Ouse on a mission to Haine-St-Pierre. There is no mention of what happened to the aircraft.

Halifax MZ598 OW-J had departed Linton on Ouse at 0127 for Ops Haine-St-Pierre

It was intercepted at 700M, 17km NNE of Coutrai by a Night-Fighter captained by Lt Georg Fengler (Stab IV/NJG1) and shot down at 0344 for his 3rd Abschuss
